  • Cheramy

Set in France in 1869-70, Chéramy is the psychological drama of the painter, Frédéric Bazille’s unrequited love for his best friend, musician, Edmond Maître. Chéramy unfolds in series of evocative tableaux depicting the intimate huis-clos of Bazille’s avant-garde art practise as he experiments with homoerotic imagery. Verging on creative maturity, enigmatically he abandons all who knew and loved him to seek escape, enlisting for war. Forever in contradiction with his surroundings, Bazille tragically finds an ephemeral happiness in the wilderness of the battleground as his time runs out.

  • Modelo Estereo

In the Modelo Prison, a group of inmates struggles not to be forgotten by society, by making music. Along the way, the prisoners face a host of problems: the authorities take advantage of their efforts and create a façade of resocialization, taking all the credit without giving hardly anything back; the prisoners are rejected by their fellow inmates, who believe they are allies of the prison authorities, even though their lyrics show the opposite; and some of the musicians are transferred, tearing apart their bands. The inmates record their songs in hopes that their message will make it past the prison walls. In the end, they realize that music won’t take them out of prison, and even if they want to change, they’re still living in the same hell. One of the musicians, Garo, regains his freedom, but it is not the happy ending he expected. He has to face a series of adversities and it seems like he may fall back into crime.
